Save money by knowing the best times to purchase everything from clothing to electronics.

Timing your purchases strategically can save hundreds or thousands of dollars annually. Retailers follow predictable patterns for sales and clearances, allowing savvy shoppers to plan accordingly.

January brings deep discounts on fitness equipment, as retailers clear inventory after holiday sales. It's also prime time for linens and bedding during white sales. Last season's winter clothing hits clearance racks.

February and March excel for tax software deals and winter sports equipment. Presidents' Day weekend features major appliance sales. As winter ends, outdoor furniture begins appearing at promotional prices.

April and May mark spring cleaning season with deals on cleaning supplies and organizational products. It's also good timing for vacation packages as summer travel season approaches.

June weddings drive registry gift sales. It's an excellent time to buy small appliances and kitchen items. Summer clothing hits full price, but wait for July clearances.

July and August offer back-to-school sales on supplies, computers, and clothing. Summer items – grills, patio furniture, and swimwear – see deep clearances to make room for fall inventory.

September through November is best for buying last year's car models as new models arrive. Electronics see promotions as manufacturers release new versions.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday offer genuine deals on electronics, toys, and appliances, though the season has expanded. December features gift card bonuses and clearances on items that didn't sell.

End-of-season clearances provide the deepest discounts – buy winter coats in March and swimsuits in September.
